Veteran actor and comedian Satish Shah is set to be honored with one of India’s highest civilian awards, the: Padma Shritoday. The award will be given posthumously by the President Dropadi Murmu in a formal ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, paying tribute to the late actor’s outstanding contribution to Indian cinema: and television.
Satish Shah’s cousin opened up about the heartbreak
In a conversation with the Hindustan Times, her cousin Arvind Mamania, who will accept the award on her behalf, opened up about the grief that remains in the family. He said, “We still haven’t gotten over the shock (of his death). Seeing his wife every day reminds us of the kind of person he was. Our home was filled with laughter and smiles, now all of a sudden the happiness is gone. It’s a big void. We take care of her (Madhu Shah, Satish’s wife) she is also precious to us.Explaining why he was chosen to represent the late actor at the prestigious ceremony, Arvind spoke with deep emotion about his bond with Shah and the circumstances that led to this decision. He added, “He is more like a brother to me and his wife cannot travel due to health reasons so she will not be able to attend the ceremony. We wish the honor would have come earlier, when he was still alive but even then we cannot change what happened. My wish is that when I receive the award for him, he will look down on us from above and bless us.
How did Satish Shah die?
Satish Shah died in October 2025 after suddenly collapsing at his home in Mumbai during lunch. He was immediately taken to Hinduja Hospital, where despite the efforts of the medical team, he could not be saved. His last rites were performed at Vile Parle, where many colleagues and friends from the industry gathered to pay their last respects to the beloved actor.
