Hyundai says goodbye to i20 N with the new Shadow Edition: limited to 100 units!

Korean manufacturer Hyundai recently revealed the latest generation i20 in Brazil, bringing significant changes over its predecessor. The updated hatchback is expected to make its way to additional international markets in the coming months. Before that, the company introduced the Shadow Edition of the current i20 N for the Australian market. Unlike Hyundai’s N Line offering, the N-badged models are developed with a stronger focus on outright performance, and Australia remains one of the few markets where the i20 N is officially sold.

The hatchback has 18-inch forged alloy wheels

The i20 N Shadow Edition is limited to just 100 units, and the special edition gets cosmetic updates while retaining the standard model’s mechanical package. Launch plans for other markets remain unknown, and it is not yet clear whether the next-generation model will spawn an N-badged performance variant.Talking about the engine first, it continues to get a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 204hp and 275Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels. Hyundai claims the hot hatch can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 km/h.

Buyers can choose from two exterior colors, out of the five available on the regular i20 N. The rest of the exterior remains unchanged, with N-specific styling elements such as sportier bumpers, red accents, a rear spoiler and an oval exhaust outlet.Inside, the special edition comes with an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel and gear lever, a numbered plaque below the central air vents and custom rubber floor mats inspired by the tread profile of the Pirelli P Zero tires fitted to the car. Other features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, fully digital cluster, Bose audio system, heated front seats, launch control, lap match function, performance telemetry and lap timer, mechanical limited slip differential (e-LSD), variable exhaust system and much more.
