A case has been booked against the principal and two teachers of a school in Maharashtra’s Jalna district on charges related to a performance held during the institution’s annual gathering earlier this year.Patul police on Thursday registered a case against Wazijouddin Siddiqui, principal of Children’s World English School, and two other staff members. The case was filed under sections of the BNS Act (BNS), which include sections dealing with conduct affecting the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India, inciting enmity between groups, spreading misinformation affecting national integration and spreading false information likely to cause panic among the public. The controversy began after some social media posts claimed that students at the school performed a dance to a Pakistani song at an annual gathering in March 2025. The posts also claimed that photos of Pakistani extremist Mumtaz Qadri were shown during the performance. The issue quickly attracted political attention. Local BJP MP Babanrao Lonikar demanded action against the school management and called for derecognition of the school. However, the school administration has strongly denied the allegations. Principal Siddiqui said the music used in the program was from the popular Turkish TV series Ertugrul Ghazi and not Pakistani songs.“The images shown during the show are of actors from ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’. Some people have doctored the visuals and are spreading misleading content on social media,” he told reporters.According to the school, claims circulating online do not accurately represent what was shown during the event.Police officials said investigations are ongoing to verify the allegations and establish the facts of the scheme and what was later shared on social media.
