Anjana Sukhani weighs in on the growing debate in the industry surrounding the onscreen objectification of women, especially praise Janhvi Kapoor for taking a bold stance regarding his portrayal of the recently released Ram Charan title ‘Peddi’. In a recent interview, Sukhani revealed that though she fortunately did not face personal exploitation or scrutiny during her stint in South Indian cinema, she respects those who push for systemic change. His comments came amidst the steady box office run of his new film, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga,’ which collected Rs. 21.85 crores worldwide in its first week.
Anjana Sukhani opens up about objectification
While acknowledging the larger debate, Anjana said she was aware of the concerns being raised and appreciated those who spoke openly about the issue. He particularly praised artists who chose to express their discomfort and stand up for themselves.Talking about the subject, he told Mid Day, “I personally never went through that because my films are not like that. But I heard about the controversy that was going on. I think that’s a battle you have to fight. I’m so happy that Janhvi stood up for this and fought for all the women who come in line, you know, or who feel left out. They also don’t have the courage to stand up and say, ‘I’m not comfortable.‘”

Anjana also reflected on her experience of working with veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’. The actress admitted that at first she was afraid of the renowned performer because of his stature and reputation in the industry. Anjana noted that Naseeruddin Shah remained deeply invested in his character during filming. He is careful not to interrupt his creative process and prefers to give him the space he needs while preparing for emotional scenes.“I would definitely say I’m scared of Naseer Saab because he’s a legend and his character is also intense, so there’s not a lot of conversation I can have with him because I also don’t want to break his place, you know, how he feels as a character.Explaining his approach further, Sukhani added, “You don’t want to cut someone’s emotions and intervene because it takes a lot to build something like that.”
