Jharkhand TET 2026: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi, will close the online application process for the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2026 today, June 20, 2026. The board extended the deadline, which marks the last chance for eligible candidates to appear for the state-level teacher qualification exam.JTET 2026 is designed to determine the eligibility of candidates for the posts of teachers in primary (grades 1 to 5) and upper (grades 6 to 8) schools in the state of Jharkhand. The examination notice will be released on March 28, 2026, and the online registration process will begin on April 21, 2026. Applications are accepted through the official JTET portal.Eligibility requirements for both levelsFor the primary level, candidates must pass high school with at least 50% and obtain a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or equivalent qualification. Candidates who meet the NCTE standard eligibility provisions, including those with 45% marks in higher secondary schools, are also eligible. Graduates with a D.El.Ed degree, candidates with a four-year B.El.Ed degree and candidates with a diploma in special education can also apply.For upper primary school, applicants must have a graduation degree and a D.El.Ed or B.Ed qualification. Candidates who have completed comprehensive courses like BA B.Ed or B.Sc B.Ed are eligible. Bachelor of Education Special Education holders and candidates with equivalent recognized qualifications can also apply.Application fees and age criteriaThe application fee for General, EWS, BC-1 and BC-2 candidates is Rs 1,300 for single paper and Rs 1,500 for two papers. For SC and ST candidates, the fee is Rs 700 for one paper and Rs 800 for two papers. PVTG candidates need to pay Rs 500 for a single paper and Rs 600 for two papers, while Divyang candidates have to pay Rs 700 and Rs 800 respectively.The minimum age for applicants is 21 years. The upper age limit will be subject to the Jharkhand government regulations. Age relaxation for various categories will be applicable. JAC also announced a one-time age relaxation benefit related to the gap between the previous and current JTET examination cycles.Exam pattern and passing scoreJTET 2026 will be conducted in offline mode using OMR tables. Both Level 1 and Level 2 exams have 150 objective questions, with a maximum score of 150 points, and the exam time is 2 hours and 30 minutes. There will be no negative marking and the question paper will be available in both Hindi and English.Candidates in the General and EWS categories must secure 60% marks to qualify, while candidates in the BC-1 and BC-2 categories require 55% marks. The qualifying marks for SC, ST, PVTG and Divyang candidates are 52%.
