Actor R Madhavan and: Infosys builder: Narayana Murthy may be from completely different worlds, but they once shared a memorable conversation on stage that goes beyond business and economics. The interaction took place during the India-Singapore Exposition in August 2007, where Madhavan was invited to interview Murthy in front of a live audience. What made the event even more special was that Murthy personally asked Madhavan to conduct the session, a decision that surprised many, including the actor himself. For Madhavan, however, it was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down, given the great admiration he has for the business leader.Recalling the experience in an interview with Rediff, Madhavan said, “It was a dream come true, and I was the only one who got the chance.”The discussion largely revolved around India’s future, especially its economic and technological growth relative to the ASEAN countries. Madhavan revealed that he took the task seriously and spent a lot of time preparing for it.“The topic is the future of India in relation to the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in growth, in IT and in the financial sector. Therefore, I did not ask him any personal or irrelevant questions. My questions are related to the growth of the economy and the growth of IT in India and the ASEAN countries,” he said.Despite the serious nature of the event, there are many lighthearted moments. Ajith and Shalini are very close friends of mine even now.”The conversation then turned to their personal lives, especially their marriages. It seems that his wife, Sudha Murty, and my wife have a lot in common, both are Maharashtrians. While Madhavan avoids asking too many personal questions, there is one aspect of Murthy’s life that fascinates him—the enduring romance between him and Sudha Murty.“I feel that he and Sudha Murty seem to be madly in love even now. I asked him, despite being one of the richest and one of the most successful men in the country, how he can maintain a romantic relationship with his wife. His answer about the romance… I won’t dare again now, because I want to use it in one of my movies. I have never heard of romance described so technically,” he said. What began as a formal discussion on economics and technology eventually turned into a compelling exchange filled with praise, humor, and personal anecdotes, offering a unique glimpse into the personalities of Madhavan and Narayana Murthy. On the professional front, Madhavan was most recently seen as a director Aditya Dhar‘Dhurandhar’ (2025), starring Ranveer Singh, and its sequel, ‘Dhurandhar.
