New Delhi: India paddler Manika Batra has warned the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) of cases if he has not been given a “factual explanation” for what he says is an unreasonable decision to drop him from India’s squad for the upcoming Asian Games. The two-time Olympian made his demands clear on Wednesday, saying he didn’t want to be singled out but wanted to make it clear what prevented him. Repeating his request Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, urged them to intervene. According to him, there should be “transparency, consistency, and accountability in elections”.After failing to meet the TTFI selection criteria, which required participation in international events, the rower was excluded from the Asian Games.Explaining that she may move to court if her concerns are not addressed, Manika added: “I sincerely hope that a clear and truthful explanation will be given. However, if I do not receive satisfactory answers regarding the basis of this decision, I will have no choice but to explore all possible options, including legal options through my legal team.”Manika denied speculation about her intentions to seek special treatment.“In the last few days, I have seen many people saying that I am looking for a place in the Asian Games team or that I am asking for special consideration. Let me say this clearly. I am not asking to be selected. I am not asking anyone to cancel the decision. I am asking for answers,” he confirmed in his latest statement.“That is why I have asked the prime minister and the honorable sports minister to review the matter, not because I want a place in the team, not because I want special treatment.”
