Cricket Ireland has confirmed that all T20Is against India will start at 1:30 pm local time (6:00 pm IST), an hour earlier than the start time of the T20 matches in India in the evening. The decision has been taken to ease the controversy surrounding India’s crucial Women’s T20 World Cup match against Australia on June 28.
The Women’s World Cup influenced the decision
India Women, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, will face Australia in the high-profile Women’s T20 World Cup match at Lord’s on Sunday. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm IST, which would have been the winner of the second men’s T20I between India and Ireland if the starting time had been kept.To overcome this problem, Cricket Ireland brought the start of T20Is by an hour, ensuring that fans can follow a large part of the entire game.
Broadcasters agreed with the Revised period
According to Cricbuzz, Cricket Ireland, the organizers of the match, scheduled for Friday (June 26) and Sunday (June 28), are understood to have discussed the matter with their Indian media partner, Sony Sports. In the best of times, the broadcaster would have preferred a 7pm IST start for the Indian T20Is, but Sony Sports is believed to have agreed to the rescheduled time to reduce the conflict, at least a little.
