Pakistan batsman Gull Feroza was reprimanded and given one chance after being found guilty of a Level 1 breach of ICC rules during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match against Australia on Tuesday.Feroza was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with the misuse of cricket equipment or clothing, floor equipment or equipment and tackle in international matches. It happened in the second play of Pakistan’s innings when Feroza, visibly upset after being dismissed, threw his bat and gloves towards the team in anger. As it was his first offense in 24 months, his offense was added to his criminal record. Feroza pleaded guilty and accepted the decision of match referee Michell Pereira of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, avoiding the need for a formal hearing. The case was presented by Sue Redfern and Vrinda Rathi, third referee Jacquline Williams and fourth referee Shathira Jakir Jesy. Under ICC rules, a Level 1 violation carries a minimum penalty and can exceed a fine of 50 percent of the player’s fine along with the offense.
The heavy defeat adds to Pakistan’s frustration
The penalty came during a difficult tour for Pakistan, who suffered a massive 113-run defeat in Australia, leaving them winless after four matches in the tournament.Pakistan captain, Fatima Sana, admitted that her team did not perform well in the tournament and urged her team to show sincerity in their final match against the Netherlands.“I think we just played our worst cricket in the game, and as a whole team we have to accept that. We have to go back, reflect, and fix ourselves,” Sana said after the match.Despite the result, Sana showed good results from the bowling team, especially the efforts of Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal, who picked up two wickets each as they kept the Australian batting in short order.“I think our bowling was very good, especially the way we started. Nashra and Sadia bowled really well… we just need more players to help them,” he said. With Pakistan already eliminated from the tournament, their final Group A series against the Netherlands will now be a chance to restore some pride and end the disappointing campaign on a positive note.
