The movie is also in the news for another reason. Director Pravin Tarde recently admitted that Shah Rukh Khan came to the rescue of the project at a critical point when the team was struggling with financial difficulties.

Tarde also took the words of the famous Marathi writer Vinda Karandikar, who quoted a line from one of his poems that roughly translates as: “Your stature is not increased by denying someone who deserves it. Always remember to give credit to those who deserve it. Whether it’s Pitya (the film’s character) or Shah Rukh Khan, it doesn’t matter to you. thank them in public.

For those who haven’t heard the backstory, Tarde first spoke about how the team at Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment reached out for a Digital Cinema Package (DCP), which is the digital format required for theatrical release. The makers had initially budgeted around Rs 12 lakh for it, but were caught when the revised quote came to around Rs 42 lakh, a figure that was more than they could afford. Sharing the details in an interview with Abhijat Marathi Filmy, Tarde said, “The bill came to Rs 42 lakh. We don’t have that kind of money, nor do we have any source from which we can arrange it. We approached Red Chillies and explained our situation. We told them that it is a Marathi film, a regional film, and our budget is limited. But we want to release it on a large scale and request their support. “

Shah Rukh Khan waived ‘Deool Band 2’s’ bill, says Pravin Tarde

It was later revealed that the request eventually went to Shah Rukh Khan himself, whose team informed him that while the film was a heartfelt and well-crafted emotional drama, the makers could not afford the DCP.
