Virat Kohli has ruled out any possibility of a return to Test cricket, joking at the launch of his new shoe line that he would prefer to sell less of the product than return to add more tours to his Test career.The former India captain, who retired from Test cricket last year after scoring 9,230 runs, was attending the international launch of the One8 footwear line when he was asked a light-hearted question about the whites’ comeback.The red-coloured boot has been valued in relation to Kohli’s Test run tally, which supports the idea that he may return to form in the long run and add to the medicinal value. Kohli, however, quickly dismissed the idea with a smile.“I’d like to sell a bit. I’m done with it (test cricket),” he said, drawing laughter from the audience.While the exchange provided an interesting moment, Kohli also spoke deeply about the ideas that have defined his career. The great winner explained that he is always guided by the belief that the game will not end until the final result is decided, regardless of the situation.To illustrate that sentiment, Kohli pointed to India’s memorable win over Pakistan at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Melbourne, a match that produced one of the best performances of his career.“I was made this way. I wish sometimes when people feel like it’s gone, then you can give the game back.“That’s how I saw things from a very young age. And I never stopped believing, until the end, that the game was lost or we couldn’t win. And some magic has happened.“One incident for me that will always stand out is the match against Pakistan in Melbourne. I was told afterwards, the chance of winning the match was like 3% or something. But I never thought like that. Even 1% is enough. If there is a chance, there is a chance. So, you have never really done it until you lose the match,” said Kohli.The 37-year-old reflected on how his personality has changed over the years. Known for his fiery and aggressive attitude at the start of his international career, Kohli believes that the youngster will be surprised by the calmness he now carries.“Perhaps he did not dare to be so gentle.“Things have gone well, looking at what we are doing, I will be proud. It feels like I walk into every room and hold my head up. Don’t doubt who I am and what I’m trying to do.“Just follow my vision and my heart and have the conviction that I’m doing it. Those are the things I can be proud of.”Kohli continues to be the dominant force in Indian cricket even after leaving the Test arena.
