Mohanlal reigned in the nostalgia of cinema lovers by unveiling the 4K trailer of ‘Kireedam’ which is one of the most popular films in the history of Malayalam cinema.The ‘Drishyam’ actor shared the restored trailer on Twitter along with a simple caption that read, “Kireedam 4k Official Trailer.” The newly released trailer presents Kireedam in a much upgraded format. The restoration was completed using the original 35mm film source. The project also includes Dolby Atmos sound.

The story that made history

Released in 1989, ‘Kireedam’ tells the story of Sethu, a young man who dreams of becoming a police officer and fulfilling his father’s wishes. However, an incident changed the course of his life. This pushes him into situations he never expected.Directed by: Said Malayil and written by: AK Lohithads‘Kireedam’ features an impressive cast led by Mohanlal, Thilakan and Parvathy Jayaram. The supporting cast includes Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Murali, Sreenath, Cochin Haneefa, Jagathy Sreekumar, Jagadish, Mamukkoya, Oduvil Unnikrishnan and Maniyanpilla Raju.The film’s music was composed by Johnson, whose work adds to its emotional impact. With its release in July 1989, ‘Kireedam’ became a major commercial success and is still considered one of the best emotional dramas in Mollywood with a tragic ending. There is also a second part of the film, titled ‘Chenkol’.On the other hand, Mohanlal was recently seen in the mystery drama ‘Drishyam 4’ which is currently streaming on OTT.
