The 21-year-old climbed to the top of the ICC rankings after taking 10 wickets in just three matches, making him the top wicket-taker in the game so far.Charani’s rise has been one of the biggest success stories of the World Cup. Having made his international debut over a year ago, he has quickly established himself as a vital member of India’s bowling line-up. His recent performances against the Netherlands and South Africa helped him overtake England pacer Linsey Smith at the top of the rankings.The Indian spinner’s major contributions came in consecutive matches. He took four wickets against the Netherlands in Leeds before taking three wickets against South Africa in Manchester. The match-winning performances made her the all-time leading scorer in women’s T20I cricket.While Charani moved to No.1, England’s Charlie Dean moved up to No.2 after taking five wickets in his first three World Cup matches. Former professional bowler Sophie Ecclestone also advanced, moving to fourth place.The batting averages remained unchanged at the top, with Australia’s Georgia Voll still holding the No. 1 spot.
