New Delhi: Indian captain Rohit Sharma wrote his name in the history books in the third ODI against Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday.Standing at first slip, Rohit took the first three wickets of Afghanistan’s innings to become the fourth Indian bowler to take part in three wickets in the first ODI.The feat was previously achieved by Sourav Ganguly against West Indies at Baroda in 2002, Manoj Tiwary against West Indies at North Sound in 2011, and Suresh Raina against Sri Lanka in Cardiff in 2013.Afghanistan’s innings started badly as Rohit ended up pulling the first ball of the match. Rahmanullah Gurbaz edged Prasidh Krishna for first fall and Rohit made no mistake.After that, Rohit worked again. Rahmat Shah tried to deliver a delivery straight down the leg side, but it just steered forward, the Indian batsman took a good catch.Rohit’s hat-trick came in the eighth over when Ibrahim Zadran steered another delivery off Prasidh Krishna for first fall. The batsmen completed a remarkable chase, with Rohit accounting for three dismissals against Afghanistan.
