Salman Khan: Filed a plea against the makers of ‘Kala Hiran’ saying the film violated his personality rights. A hearing is scheduled for the same on June 19 and according to the latest update, the: Delhi High Court on Friday the hearing was postponed. The adjournment came after lawyers representing the filmmakers asked for more time to file their response.The matter was heard before the vacation bench of Justice Madhu Jain. According to ANI, Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi representing Salman Khan, urged the court to grant immediate interim relief, arguing that the filmmakers are unlawfully using the actor’s life story and public image for commercial gain without his consent.“He made a film on my life and destroyed the announcement. He has no right to make a film on my life. I am asking for an interim injunction. The teaser has been released,” Sethi told the court.The filmmakers’ lawyer sought time to submit a formal response, saying a copy of the application was received only on Wednesday. Opposing the request, Sethi maintained that the respondents have been served and proof of service has been filed in court.During the proceedings, the filmmakers’ lawyer also informed the court that he allegedly received death threats and registered an FIR in connection with the matter.Sethi further argued that the promotional content associated with the film has already been released and that the makers cannot continue to use Khan’s identity and persona without permission. The filmmakers have opposed any interim order halting the project.After hearing both sides, the court noted that the producer and director recently received the complete request. It directed Salman Khan’s legal team to hand over all relevant documents to the respondents and listed the matter before the roster bench on July 1.The dispute stems from Khan’s claim that ‘Kala Hiran. Battle for Legacy’ violates his personality and publicity rights while also tarnishing his reputation. Earlier, the High Court issued a notice of the case after it was announced that the trailer of the film was released despite an earlier indication that it would be revealed only on June 20.As per Khan’s request, the film and its promotional campaign were inspired by the events surrounding the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. While the actor’s name is not clearly mentioned, he argues that posters, promotional material and statements made by project partners make it clear that the character is meant to represent him.The petition specifically points to a poster released in May 2026, which is said to feature a character resembling Khan and wearing a bracelet similar to his iconic blue bracelet. It further claimed that the character was shown carrying a weapon, despite Khan’s acquittal in the Arms Act case, creating what it described as a misleading depiction.Khan also argued that certain parts of the film appeared to refer to legal matters pending in the high courts. According to the request, the circulation of such content may influence ongoing proceedings and may affect his right to a fair trial.The application further mentions interviews, social media posts and public statements allegedly made by producer Amit Jani linking the film to the blackbuck and gangster case.
