Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has now joined the lucky few after receiving his India kit ahead of the upcoming T20I series against Ireland.The youngster, who was recently called up to India for the first time, spoke about that moment and said he fulfilled the dream that drew him to the sport.At 15 years and 71 days, Sooryavanshi has become the youngest player to be selected in the Indian senior men’s team, surpassing the record set by Sachin Tendulkar 36 years ago.Tendulkar made his debut for India against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16 years and 205 days and remains the youngest Indian to play in the top international game. If Sooryavanshi takes part in the upcoming tour, he will become the youngest player to play for India in men’s international cricket.Speaking in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Sooryavanshi said:“Words can’t explain. The reason I picked up the bats from day one and went down to do it: that dream has come true now. The biggest part of that journey was completed today. I can’t put this feeling into words.“I felt like I was dreaming when I saw that t-shirt, I couldn’t stop smiling. In that case, you don’t know what to do. The men’s cricket tournament at the 2026 Asian Games begins on September 24, with the medal match scheduled for October 3.Sooryavanshi’s selection follows a strong IPL 2026 season and Rajasthan Royals. The left-hander finished as the top scorer in the tournament, winning the Orange Cap after scoring 776 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 237.30.His season included a century, a five-and-a-half century and a record 72 sixes, performances that helped him break into the Indian top-flight.
