Positive Impact Rating 2026: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) received an overall score of 9.7 in the Positive Impact Rating (PIR) 2026, significantly exceeding the global average score of 8.0. The college was also named a Level 5 Pioneer School for the fifth consecutive year, retaining the highest accolade awarded under the Global Assessment Framework.The Positive Impact Rating is an international, student-led assessment that measures how effectively business schools advance society and prepare future leaders to address global challenges. Unlike traditional rankings that focus on academic performance and institutional reputation, PIR evaluates institutions along dimensions such as governance, culture, learning approaches, public engagement and social impact.The 2026 edition of the PIR received valid responses from nearly 20,000 students at 87 business schools in 32 countries on five continents, making it the largest version of the assessment to date.According to the results, IIM Bangalore performed particularly strongly in the Vitality and Education categories. Under the “vibrancy” category, which assesses governance and institutional culture, the institute received an overall score of 9.8, with a governance score of 9.8 and a culture score of 9.7. In the Education category, which covers curriculum, learning methods and student support, IIM Bangalore received an overall score of 9.6, compared with a global average of 7.9. Individual scores in this category included 9.7 points each for project and 9.6 points each for learning methods and student support.The institute also reported strong performance in areas related to public engagement and its role as a model institution, which are assessed under the PIR’s “enabling” dimension.Commenting on the recognition, Professor U Dinesh Kumar, Head of IIM Bangalore, said the feedback received through the rating process helps the institution assess its efforts in responding to changing societal expectations in management education.“At a time when modern business schools are being asked to achieve higher than ever before, the year-over-year feedback we receive through PIR helps validate our efforts. In becoming the world’s leading center for management education, we will continue to play a conscious role in addressing society’s challenges. “Professor Mukta Kulkarni, Program Director, IIM Bangalore, said the recognition is significant as the assessment is entirely based on student feedback.“It is particularly encouraging to see IIMB continue to receive the highest level of recognition in ratings determined entirely by student voice. This challenges us to continue to raise the bar,” she said.The Positive Impact Rating is administered by the Swiss Association and initiated by a consortium of business school experts. The initiative is supported by organizations including WWF, Oxfam International and the United Nations Global Compact Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It focuses on assessing the contribution of business schools to social well-being and sustainable development.
