Prithviraj Sukumaran will play the main villain in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming ‘Varanasi’ starrer Mahesh Babu and: Priyanka Chopra. While the film is currently being made, the Malayalam actor shared about the interesting experience from the sets.‘Varanasi’ which is a global adventure thriller helmed by the visionary ‘RRR’ director is shot in various locations across the world. Prithviraj Sukumaran recently revealed that a particular scene with Mahesh Babu took almost a day to shoot because Rajamouli was not satisfied with the result.
One shot took nearly 100 takes
Talking about the scene, Prithviraj Sukumaran said, “This is not an exaggeration. For a particular shot in the film, Mahesh Babu and I started shooting it in the morning. I’m not sure if it was taken 94 or 97. We started work in the morning and came for a lunch break, because he didn’t get the right shot. Just when we thought we had a second river of food, he called us back to the set. We started again and it continued till 6:30 pm or 7 pm.“Even after several takes, Rajamouli was still not completely happy with the shot. He asked the two actors to come back the next day and shoot the same scene again.Further talking about the ‘Baahubali’ director, Prithviraj Sukumaran called him the “hardest working director” he has ever worked with. He said that the filmmaker always reached the shooting location earlier than others.

He mentioned that when the actor arrived for a 7 am shoot, Rajamouli had already completed several rehearsals with his assistants. He was also able to set up the camera and complete the planning before the actors arrived on the set.SS Rajamouli also told Prithviraj Sukumaran that he was there since 5:15 in the morning when the actor asked him. When the actor who played Kumbha in the film offered to come early as well, the director only asked him to report at his scheduled call time. He also shared that Rajamouli was usually the last person to leave the set and even the lunch breaks lasted only about 20 minutes.
