Earlier, in April 2025, reports came out about: Akshay Kumar and: Priyadarshan Coming together for the third time, after previously working in ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and ‘Haiwaan’. Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films produced the venture. Now, in a new update, it is reported that the film has finally locked its title.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the film is titled ‘Wicked Sunny’. The makers believe that the title does full justice to the film’s zone as well as its main character. Additionally, ‘Wicked Sunny’ has strong recall value. This is the name of the theme played in Akshay Kumar’s scenes in ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ (2004). The theme remains very catchy and popular even 22 years after the release of the film. ‘Wicked Sunny’ will show Akshay in a wacky comic avatar, very different from the characters he played in recent comic capers like ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and ‘Welcome To The Jungle’. Fans will enjoy watching Akshay go all-out. Moreover, the title will further enhance the hype surrounding the film.
Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s collaboration history
So far, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have worked together in seven films. ‘Hera Pheri’ (2000), ‘Garam Masala’ (2005), ‘Bhagam Bhag’ (2006), ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ (2007), ‘De Dana Dan’ (2009), ‘Khatta Meetha’ (2010), and ‘Bhooth Bangla’. Their upcoming film ‘Haiwaan’ will mark their eighth collaboration, with ‘Wicked Sunny’ set to be the ninth. ‘Haiwaan’, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, is set to hit the theaters on September 11, 2026.

According to a recent report in Mid-Day, ‘Wicked Sunny’ is a comic thriller written by Priyadarshan along with Rohan Shankar, the same duo behind ‘Bhooth Bangla’. The report also noted that filming is expected to begin this December.
