According to the coroner’s report cited by Variety, Chase, who is also known as Daveigh Schwallier, died of complications from Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The report also lists ‘chronic polysubstance use’ as the second cause of death.

Before the release of the official findings, Chase’s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, told TMZ that he had been diagnosed with meningitis and sepsis, a life-threatening response to an infection. Hernandez added to the publication that the former child actor was first admitted to a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month due to malnutrition before being diagnosed with meningitis and multiple serious blood infections. He said the resulting septic complications eventually caused his body to shut down.
