Commenting on the moment, actress Olivia Cooke told PEOPLE, “There’s a lot Alicent doesn’t understand,” before adding, “[She] don’t know what happened.While Alicent doesn’t think so far, Cooke believes the character’s arc is set to evolve. “I think she was like, okay, I made this bargain with Rhaenyra,” he said, and continued, “It felt like a public display of this assertion of power. I think Alicent was like, ‘Okay, well, f*** you.’

Emma D’Arcy believes that Rhaenyra is subject to the horror of violence

For the final moments of the episode, Emma D’Arcy believed that Rhaenyra had crossed a line, but the powerful position demanded it. “I think there is an important point that the show makes about the rulers of any kind insulated from their acts of violence. And in this moment, Rhaenyra’s not insulated.
