The time to wait for the return of Queen Rhaenyra and the Targaryen family is almost over. After several prequel series that have captivated viewers since its release in 2022, ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 will air on Sunday, June 21.According to USA Today, the new season will arrive after the described anticlimactic conclusion of the second season. Despite the mixed reviews of last season’s finale, anticipation remains high for what many expect to be an important chapter in the ongoing civil conflict that forms the backbone of the series.
When and where to watch the new season?
The third season premieres Sunday, June 21, at 9 pm ET. Subsequent episodes will follow the same weekly schedule, releasing every Sunday at the same time until the end of August 9. The season consists of eight episodes in total.

Plan expectations for the upcoming season

The ensemble cast returns for season 3 of ‘House of the Dragon’
The cast will include familiar and new faces for the upcoming season. Emma D’Arcy continues in the central role of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, while Matt Smith reprises his role as Daemon Targaryen. Olivia Cooke returns as Alicent Hightower, along with supporting cast members including Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Harry Collett as Jacaerys Velaryon, Bethany Antonia as Baela Targaryen, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon Aegon Targaryenell, and E.

Additional returning performers include Phia Saban as Helaena Targaryen, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, Matthew Needham as Larys Strong, Phoebe Campbell as Rhaena Targaryen, and Jefferson Hall, who portrays Tyland and Jason Lannister. New cast additions for the season include Tommy Flanagan from ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and Dan Fogler from the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise, among others. The ensemble also features Kieran Bew as Hugh Hammer, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, and Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower.
The future seasons are greenlit
The series has been acquired for the fourth season, which received its renewal in November 2025.
