The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will travel in July, with important dates at the upcoming Invictus Games. It is a potential change in family relations as King Charles opens his doors to his youngest son and family in the royal residence.PEOPLE reports that King Charles is extending royal hospitality to his younger son and family, allowing them to stay at a royal property. Harry and Meghan plan to bring their two children, Prince Archie (7) and Princess Lilibet (5) to the UK in July. Next month marks the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, an adaptive sporting competition for service personnel and veterans, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously attending the countdown event.

King Charles extended the offer of accommodation to Prince Harry and family

King Charles, 77, has offered his younger son and his family a place to live on a royal estate. However, so far there has been no response to the offer. On previous occasions, the monarch has offered Harry accommodation at Buckingham Palace, which he has declined. The act expresses the good will of the King in granting the visit, despite the power struggle of the royal family.Although Prince Harry and his family remain in a royal residence, there are no additional security provisions, as decided by the Home Office. After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal roles in 2020, they lost their tax-funded police protection – something Harry is fighting in court to restore, citing safety concerns in his homeland.

Prince Harry has expressed safety concerns about bringing the family to the UK

The Duke of Sussex has stressed that he does not feel it is safe to bring his family to the UK. In a statement at the High Court in London, Prince Harry said he needed security for his two children to “feel at home” in his homeland. “The UK is my home. The UK is the center of my children’s heritage and a place I want them to feel at home like where they live now in the United States,” said Harry. “That will not happen if there is no possibility of keeping them safe when they are in the UK earth.”

He added, “I wouldn’t put my wife in danger like that, and because of my life experiences, I’m reluctant to not have to put myself in harm’s way as well.” The security issue is a point of contention in the ongoing rift between Prince Harry and the rest of his family. No plans for a reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles during a potential visit to the UK have been confirmed, but the couple have met in the past on such trips.

Prince Harry has spoken of a desire for family reconciliation

Prince Harry has previously expressed his hope for improved family ties. “I want to be reunited with my family. There is no point in continuing the fight,” he told the BBC last year. “Life is precious. I don’t know how long my father will live,” he continued, as if referring to the King’s cancer diagnosis, announced in 2024. “He won’t talk to me because of these security things, but it’s good to reconcile. The last time father and son met was on September 10, 2025, at the King’s London home when Harry was in the UK for the Wellchild Awards and Invictus Games events. They met for a private, 55-minute conversation, marking their first in-person meeting in 19 months. Prince Harry has returned to the UK several times since stepping back from his royal role, but Meghan and their children have not been there since 2022.
