New Delhi: India all-rounder Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after suffering a right hamstring injury during the Group A match against the Netherlands at Headingley. The injury happened on the first ball of the sixth over when Shreyanka twisted her ankle while chasing the ball through mid-on. He immediately clutched his ankle in pain and was eventually carried off the field on a stretcher as his teammates and paramedics rushed to help. The setback has been painful for Shreyanka, who had just returned to international cricket after a long spell out with another injury. Taking to social media, the off-spin bowler spoke about his frustration and thanked fans for their support.“Well, not all dreams come true. No injury is easy, but this one has hit hard. But in the past few days, I have been overwhelmed by the love I have received. I have seen many messages, many updates, and reels, and I am very grateful for all of them,” wrote Shreyanka on her social media account on Saturday.“I know I have enough of you wishing for the best to get through this too. Not all dreams come true, but I will never stop dreaming! And as I said last year, “heartbreak, but I will fly again.”Shreyanka was involved in India’s victory against Pakistan earlier in the tournament and remained a key player due to his ability to play on the left and play well in the winning overs. Her stint at Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League further proved her worth.India have brought in all-rounder Prema Rawat as his replacement. However, the team management may turn to left-arm spinner Radha Yadav or change their pace ahead of the crucial Group A clash against South Africa at Old Trafford on Sunday.
