Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again showed why he is regarded as one of India’s most promising youngsters, making an impressive 94 from just 29 balls against Sri Lanka A in the Tri-Nation Series final. The 15-year-old hit a staggering 324.14, hitting 10 fours and 8 sixes before falling 6-run short of a century. Although this innings is among the most destructive innings played for India A in the 50-over format, it was not the fastest knock of his youth. The 15-year-old opener created a sensational riot for the Sri Lankan bowlers after Sri Lanka A opted to bat first, racing to just 10 runs in just 11 overs, making it 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 0, 6, 4, 4, 6, 11 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 0, 6, 4, 4, 6, 11. In doing so, Sooryavanshi eclipsed the previous world record of 12-ball 50, set by Kaushalya Weeraratne of Sri Lanka in 2005. But this was only his second best innings in terms of strike rate. The best came in November 2025 when, aged just 14 years and 232 days, the left-handed opener re-wrote the record books with a stunning 144 off 42 balls against the UAE in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. In T20 matches, he smashed 11 fours and 15 sixes, and scored at an incredible rate of 342.86. He reached his century in just 32 balls, making him the third fastest in T20 history alongside Indian batsman Rishabh Pant who smashed a 32-ball hundred in Delhi in the SMAT. Sooryavanshi powered India A to 297/4 in their 20 overs and was instrumental in leading the side to a 148-run defeat. Even Vaibhav Sooyavanshi’s best for Team India came in the U19-Final match against England in 2026. Vaibhav ended England’s bowling with 15 fours and 15 sixes and scored 175 runs in just 80 balls in a defeat of 218.75 and made India record 41 in the final.
