My father told me Hindu-Muslim marriage very difficult’

Recalling the conversation, Vindu said that his father was generally one who believed in religious harmony and non-discrimination between communities.“We are one of those people who believe that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians – everyone is a brother. This is what my father always said,” shared Vindu. However, when he expressed his desire to marry Farah Naaz, Dara Singh reportedly gave a word of caution.“He said to me, ‘Vindu, there is one more thing. Hindu-Muslim marriage is very difficult.'”The actor recalled that he was confident that things would work out.“When I told him I wanted to marry Farah, he said, ‘It’s very difficult, Vindu. In the end, things always go wrong.’ I told him, ‘Dad, nothing bad will happen.’ He said, ‘Think carefully. These things are going to be tough in the end.'”

“I have no regrets because I have Fateh”

In retrospect, Vindu admits that his father had a point, though he stresses that he doesn’t regret his decision.“I don’t regret it because I have Fateh, a wonderful son who I love more than my life. But that’s right.”The actor used the experience to emphasize the importance of listening to parents.“Always remember that parents give us advice, but we don’t listen. We thought, ‘What do they know?’ But they know more than us. They have more experience and they are your Gods.”He added, “We think we are very wise and know everything. But if they stop you or warn you, that is usually a sign from God. Listen to them.”

“Religion is the perfect cause”

True.”The actor explained that religion was not initially a point of conflict between them.“Religion was perfectly normal between us. But suddenly he became very religious.”According to Vindu, the transition has created differences that are difficult to navigate.“We never had that highly religious system among us. So if you suddenly become very religious, complications arise. That, according to me, is the main reason.”

Interestingly, despite his warning about interfaith marriage, Vindu said his father remained a firm believer in religious unity throughout his life.He remembered a poem written by Dara Singh before his death, which celebrated the harmony of different faiths.“Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian – all are brothers,” Vindu quoted from the poem. The actor said the poem emphasizes that while different spiritual leaders may take different paths, they all ultimately lead to the same destination.

“we are all one”

Vindu concludes by reiterating the values he inherited from his father.“We are all one.”Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan, he added, “As Modi ji said, ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.’ Never try to divide us, never try to break us. We are all one and we will remain one.”Vindu and Farah Naaz got married in 1996 and later got separated. The former couple have a son together, Fateh Randhawa. Despite acknowledging the challenges they face, the actor said he remains grateful for the relationship and the family it has given him.
