Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur admitted her team had not played up to expectations and said it was time to “rethink” after their six-wicket defeat to Australia knocked them out of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Sunday. The loss resulted in India failing to qualify for the semi-finals despite posting 170 for four when asked to bat. “Today we were in the game for a long time, but I think we didn’t play to our liking and as a team we need to think about a lot of things,” Kaur said in his post-match commentary.Kaur, who scored 50 centuries, said that India managed to do well in the tournament but admitted that the team did not perform well against the strong teams in the tournament.“I think at the end of the day we had enough numbers on the board. At one point, I thought we were short but in the end I thought we got the job done.”“But we didn’t play well. Australia missed well. Throughout the tournament, we didn’t play well against good teams. We have to change against good teams,” he said.Australian captain Sophie Molineux praised Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner after the pair added 100 runs for the fourth wicket to lead Australia to victory.“Those two hit beautifully. The way these two use their intelligence, they use their skill and follow the short boundaries and find the little things, it’s good to see the two come together and put together a great partnership,” said Molineux.“We just had to hang in there as things changed quickly. Pez (Perry) said 170 is very accessible and his actions speak louder than words and he was good to go out there and chase it with Ash,” he added.
