SS Rajamouli is returning to the sets of his upcoming film ‘Varanasi’ after a short break. The director recently attended special screenings of his films in France where he was honored at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris. If the latest buzz is to be believed, the ace filmmaker is set to start filming one of the biggest war sequences in the film.According to a Mid-day report, SS Rajamouli is all set to start shooting from July 7 in Hyderabad for: Mahesh BabuPriyanka Chopra Jonas and: Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer

The great battle scene was planned on a grand scale

Interestingly, Mahesh Babu will participate in the shoot along with around 3,500 junior artists. The makers are reportedly preparing for this sequence for several weeks now. The battle sequence is said to be one of the biggest scenes that the ‘Baahubali’ director has planned for weeks. Filming on set is just the beginning.Reports further suggest that thousands of junior artists will later be augmented with visual effects. The final version will feature an army much larger than the one actually filmed. Around 50,000 vanars are expected to appear on screen, making it one of the biggest battle scenes ever attempted in Indian cinema:.Interestingly, it was also revealed earlier that Mahesh Babu will appear as Lord Rama in one of the important scenes of the film.

SS Rajamouli reveals what the film will offer

During the screening event in France, Rajamouli spoke about the kind of experience that ‘Varanasi’ will give to the audience. He said, “You will experience the cold and ice of Antarctica. The gods of the Ramayana, the natural disasters and fantastical elements. That is the experience you will have, but the core of it all is the emotions of father and son. All this makes Varanasi for you.”The film is said to be a mythological action adventure that follows the hero’s journey across different timelines.

Cast of ‘Varanasi’

Mahesh Babu played the role of Rudhra in the film. Priyanka Chopra Jonas will be seen as Mandakini, while Prithviraj Sukumaran will play Kumbha. The film also marks the return of Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Indian cinema after a gap of eight years.‘Varanasi’ is scheduled to release in theaters worldwide on April 7, 2027.
