Sanjay Khan’s wife: Zareen Khan: died in November last year. While she married a Muslim and was born as a Parsi, she was cremated according to Hindu rituals. While people are raising questions, in a recent interview, Zareen’s daughter, jewelery designer Farah Khan Ali kept it quiet. He revealed the reason why Zareen wished to be cremated because she wanted her ashes to be immersed in water. Opening up about his death while becoming emotional, Farah said in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, “He was good at heart, he slept at night. He was so peaceful, that when he passed, it would not be painful.” He added, “He used to tell us, that I pray to my Sai Baba that if I go, I will fall asleep immediately. Although he was born a Parsi, married to a Muslim, he asked us to cremate him as a Hindu because he wanted his ashes to be immersed in the flowing water of Kashmir. He is claustrophobic being in a tomb. That was one of the reasons he wanted to be cremated as a Hindu. When he passed, there were so many bad comments about why we cremated him as a Hindu. I come from a family where we were taught to love all religions, celebrate all festivals. I can ignore the trolls very well. I’m an expert at ignoring trolls. At the end of the day, you only have so much time and you need to focus on the people who matter and the people you love. ” He further revealed, “During his prayer ceremony, we had five priests from different religions – Parsi, Sikh, Hindu, Christian, Muslim all saying different prayers and then the children and we all talked about him. When asked how Sanjay Khan dealt with Zareen’s death, Farah said, “I think men don’t lose much. My father is no exception. He also accepted my mother because he was always there and now I think he misses her. 24/7. He’s not doing well, he’s dealing with it like we all are.” She cried as she missed her mother and said, “I write to her, tell her about my day and how much she means to me. I do that every single day.
