According to NDTV, the: Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has withheld the clearance certificate for Salman’s ‘Maatrubhumi’, earlier titled ‘Battle of Galwan’, till further orders.
Salman Khan’s ‘Maatrubhumi’ has stirred controversy in China
Even before its release, the film sparked controversy in China. After its teaser online, many Weibo users accused the movie of showing a distorted account of the Galwan Valley battle. The Ministry of External Affairs responded to the matter in January, saying that issues related to film production in India were being dealt with by “relevant authorities” and that the MEA had “no role” in such matters.
Salman Khan’s ‘Maatrubhumi’ teaser was released on his birthday
The makers unveiled the teaser of the film on December 27, 2025, coinciding with Salman Khan’s 60th birthday. Salman plays Colonel Santosh Babu in the film, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who leads the Indian troops during the fighting while enforcing a border separation agreement.
