Speaking to Hindustan Times, Mahesh shared that he avoids giving advice to his children, and also opened up about his approach to parenting his grown children amid the pressures of fame. He said, “I never give advice to my children. They are brighter than me. They are on earth now. They can learn by themselves. The earth will teach them. And that’s just the teacher. Life is the only teacher, period.” The filmmaker went on to say that he doesn’t protect his children too much, even if they face public criticism, adding, “I think protection will make them crippled. No, let them taste the light, shine like all of us.”

He referred to online criticism and hate as an “occupational hazard” that comes with fame, noting that public recognition inevitably comes with its own set of challenges. He said, “Fame has a price. If you stand in the sun, you will burn in the sun.” Bhatt also talks about why she avoids showing her own experiences to her children, believing that life itself is the best teacher. He added, “I don’t tell my children about my life experiences and expect them to plot them on their life maps. Woh sahi bhi nahi hai (That is not right). Their lives are different, these are different times, and their journeys are different. “Bhatt also talked about parenting, saying it’s unfair for parents to expect their children to face life with the exact same lessons they learned. He noted that each generation grew up in its own world.
