Former India player L Sivaramakrishnan believes that 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi should continue to play regularly instead of taking a break, saying that regular playing time will help the youngster learn, make mistakes and gain experience in different situations.Sooryavanshi became India’s youngest cricketer when he played in the second T20I against England in Manchester on Saturday at the age of 15 years and 99 days.Sivaramakrishnan, who made his Test debut as a 17-year-old against the West Indies in 1983, said India must continue to support the youngster after giving him his first chance.“He should be given a fair chance with white ball cricket and see how he performs. Let them continue. I mean, there’s no need to bleed a baby and sedate or sedate it. He doesn’t need to rest. He can play throughout the year,” Sivaramakrishnan was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.“Especially if it’s a hit, he doesn’t need the physical strength of a bowler. And hitting for a long time will give him that attitude, a mental work that he can do for a long time,” he added.Sooryavanshi scored 14 off 10 balls, including two sixes, in his innings. Sivaramakrishnan said the team’s attitude should not change.“Once you decide to play him, you have to give him a fair chance. Remember, he is money for the next 20 years. I think what Vaibhav needs now is more support from the coach (Gautam Gambhir) and the captain (Shreyas Iyer) and the rest of the players. Even if he doesn’t do well in several games, he deserves support. It should be continued.According to Sivaramakrishnan, Sooryavanshi’s attacking nature will naturally lead to some setbacks, but this should not stop him from playing his game.“I want to see him guided and supported properly. He is a type of stroke player, there may be several risks he can take. But today’s cricket is all about risk. So, he should not be told to stop his instincts and the way he approaches the game.”
