Tom Holland reveals what his first day on ‘The Odyssey’ was like
Tom Holland has revealed that he wasn’t the most confident on his first day on the sets of ‘The Odyssey’. He revealed that during the shooting, the director kept calling for a cut in his shots, causing him to believe that something had happened. While talking to Fandango, he revealed that the situation made him feel like Nolan hated him and his acting on the film set on the first day.However, he was later revived to find that cuts had been made so that the IMAX cameras would work properly. He shared, “Working with the Imax cameras for the first time was an experience. It was unlike anything I’d seen before, and I didn’t know it was only running for three minutes. So, I remember that you would continue to cut, and I was with Jon. [Bernthal]like, ‘Why does he keep cutting? Why does he keep doing that?'”But at that moment, that thought had not registered in the actor’s mind and instead led him to a dark place where he felt that Nolan hated his work in front of the camera. He shared, “And in my head, I was like, ‘Doesn’t he like what we’re doing? What’s going on?’ And then, I remembered that it was true [stunt coordinator] George Cottle was like, ‘No, no, no, there’s three minutes in the mag.’ I said, ‘Oh, thank God.“I thought I was totally s********ing the bed in this scene.”
How filming ‘The Odyssey’ was for Tom Holland
In another interview with GQ, the actor shared that it was one of the greatest experiences he had working with Christopher Nolan. He added at the time that, “Working with Chris, who knows him and Emma [Thomas] very unusual. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they are the best in the business for sure”. He also shared that it was amazing to see the director in his element working on the film and with all the actors on set.Christopher Nolan is one of the most respected filmmakers, and is well known for his skill and for creating blockbuster films.
