Seeman objects to Murugan’s portrayal
In his statement, Seeman said that the makers should immediately consider the reference used in the announcement. Highlighting the importance of Murugan in Tamil culture, as reported by Cinema Vikatan, he said, “The Tamil saying, ‘Wherever there is a hill, there is Kumaran,’ itself shows the deep connection between Lord Murugan and Tamil Nadu.He added, “Tamils ​​and Tamils ​​have always had the strength to establish the fact that Murugan is a unique deity closely associated with Tamils.” According to Seeman, changing this identity for creative or commercial reasons is unacceptable.
Seeman issued a warning to the film crew
Seeman also urged the creators not to perpetuate what he described as a distorted narrative. “For commercial gain, do not interfere with the symbols that represent the pride and identity of the Tamil people. We will not be silent anymore,” he said. He further warned, “The film team should immediately drop attempts to create false stories claiming that Murugan was born in the North and present this art. Seeman called for action if the controversy continues
Continuing his criticism, Seeman appealed to theater owners and the Tamil Nadu government to intervene if the said concept remains unchanged. “If the film is released with the same narrative despite widespread opposition, theater owners in Tamil Nadu should unite and refuse to screen it,” he said.
