Amidst Deepika Padukone's 8-hour shift row, Rajkumar Hirani says that Ranbir Kapoor will reach the set at 3 am for the 'Sanju' shoot.

With conversations around the 8-hour workday in the film industry gaining momentum, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani shares an anecdote that highlights Ranbir Kapoorcommitment while filming Sanju. The director revealed that Ranbir will report to the set starting at 3 am to undergo several hours of make-up before the day’s shooting.Hirani explained that the actor’s transformation into: Sanjay Dutt requires four to five hours of makeup per day. Due to this, Ranbir will reach Film City before dawn for the scheduled 7 am shoot.Hirani was asked if actors insisting on shorter work shifts would affect the film’s performance and production costs, especially compared to senior actors who often work long hours.Responding to the question, he said in an interview to IANS, “I don’t think any actor from today’s generation says we will only work long hours. They understand the importance of, at least those who have worked with me, they understand the importance. Toh karna hai toh khatam karna hai. They will finish it.”The filmmaker then recalled how Ranbir never complained despite the tough schedule. “I remember Ranbir, he used to have a beard in the film, so he used to spend 4-5 hours doing makeup. So when we had a 7 AM shift, he would come at 3 AM and sit in the film city at night alone. I used to come at 6 AM, and there used to be a van outside, a lamp hanging outside, and inside, his makeup used to go on with him for 2 hours. He never complained about it. Never, to anyone. I have never seen anyone complain otherwise. “Hirani’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about regulating working hours in the entertainment industry, with several actors recently advocating for fixed shifts to promote healthier working conditions.Released in 2018, *Sanju* featured Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role and chronicled the life of Sanjay Dutt, exploring his struggles with substance abuse, personal failures and his arrest in connection with 1993 Bombay bombings. The biographical drama became one of the biggest box office successes of the year.
