The supernatural horror series appears to be undergoing major changes in the fourth season of ‘From’, but one of the most interesting storylines is left a mystery and can be explored at the end of the series. The Golem project in Season 4 is a mystery for Fatima, and it hasn’t been fully developed to warrant being an important part of the final showdown, so it won’t be a major factor in the finale.Jade and Tabitha eventually retrieve the bones of the sacrificed children with the help of Boy and others while the Man in Yellow and the Boy in White are revealed to recognize each other appearing as entities engaged in a strange game in the town. Despite these significant plot developments, the golem storyline received little attention in the final episodes of the season, creating an opportunity for the final season to revisit and expand upon this forgotten narrative thread.
The construction and transformation of Fatima’s golem
In the middle of Season 4, Fatima started carving a golem in her room at Colony House. He finally confirmed to Ellis that he had created a golem, a creature from religious mythology that acts as a guardian or protector of those who build it. Fatima’s decision stems from her continued trauma related to her pregnancy that culminated in the rebirth of a character at the end of last season. He learned about golems from his father, a cleric, and considered the creation to be reasonable given the dire conditions of the townspeople.

Fatima creates her golem for several episodes before discovering in Episode 7, “Best Laid Plans,” that she now has a psychic connection with a supernatural being. Subsequent episodes suggest that Fatima is undergoing a transformation of her own, with another character discovering that her pulse has dropped to a dangerously low level—low enough that she died in the clinic. This change reaches its culmination in the Season 4 finale, “If A Tree Falls In The Forest...,” when Fatima completely transforms into a creature of her own to protect Ellis and his friends to escape the caves.
The unresolved subplot and its potential purpose
The show usually introduces subplots with enough payoff, which makes the fact that Fatima didn’t get a golem before the end of the season a little disappointing. The subplot itself remains intriguing because inanimate objects once came to life in the town, especially the monster dolls found in the lake of an ancient settlement in the previous episode. The golem can serve a valuable purpose in the end times now that a major antagonist has stolen and thrown away all the amulets, which are the only way to defend the people from the creatures that appear at night. If Fatima’s golem somehow survives, it could give the townspeople an alternative defense or equalizer to fight the creatures, or it could just be another terrifying monster they have to deal with.
Alternative interpretation of the meaning of golem
The golem subplot may not imply the possibility of Fatima’s sculpture surviving, but serves as an external metaphor for her own transformation. In this interpretation, Fatima may have been the protector he built for the town. Although Fatima became a creature, she used her abilities to chase away other creatures looking for her friends. He also appeared to gain stronger control over his abilities in the end, suggesting that time may have been building towards him becoming a creature while maintaining his most important bonds.

During an early episode, Fatima mentions the Golem of Prague from Jewish legend, which goes haywire one night after her master forgets to remove the letter that controls it during the Sabbath. The reference to this ancient fable may be a hint to the story suggesting that he will be a protective force for those around him in the future.
Last season opportunity
Now that ‘From’ is back for its final season, Fatima’s fate after her dramatic transformation is being questioned. The golem subplot has the ideal opportunity to be explored in two ways, either the golem comes to life as a real protector or it is in the form of Fatima herself who has changed. In both cases, it will give the supernatural horror series a sweet and satisfying ending that supports the storylines that have been set up throughout the series.
