England – the whole world Sam Curran described Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s rise to the Indian team as a “wonderful story”, saying the 15-year-old has caught the attention coming his way, while he hopes England can keep him quiet if he makes his international debut in the ongoing T20I series.The cricketing world has been waiting for Sooryavanshi’s debut for India ever since he was selected to tour UK following his performance against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026. Speaking to the media ahead of the second T20I, Curran said he followed Sooryavanshi a lot during the IPL.“I think it’s an amazing story. I watched the IPL for a month, and I was just looking at this guy, he looks so simple. It’s amazing and it’s right, getting the attention he deserves.“He’s raw and he’s just having the time of his life, isn’t he? Playing for India at 15 is a great story and I think despite the opposition, you have to admire the talent and things like that,” said Curran.Curran believes the conditions in England could present some challenges for the youngster.“I think England will be very difficult, the pitches are very different, a bit slower than in India. Boys can have their plans and all that stuff.“So I think, we’ll have our plans, yes, but I’m not saying they’re the right plans, you never know because they’re playing so well.“But at the end of the day, I’m going to try and do my best, but there’s no doubt that he’s very special at what he’s doing,” he said.Sooryavanshi ended IPL 2026 as the tournament’s top scorer, scoring 776 runs in 230 overs.Curran also said that handling the attention that comes with playing in India would be Sooryavanshi’s biggest challenge.“I think being an Indian cricketer in India is probably a lot bigger than us. So I think it’s probably very difficult, the way he does that. He’s played one or two seasons in the IPL and he’s aiming for the Indian team now. I’m sure he’s got people around him trying to help him. But I think you never know until he gives his debut and see how he goes.“I’m sure he’ll have his ups and downs like everybody else, but as a cricketer, you have to enjoy what he’s doing because it’s really cool. When I was 15, I think I was knocking around at Surrey’s boarding school.”
