Former Indian batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara believes that it may take some time for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to get an opportunity in the T20I series against England. The 15-year-old international has been the talk of the town, especially after India’s 0-2 series defeat in Ireland.“There’s a lot of hype around him, and as a young player, he shouldn’t focus on what’s being said about him. I think it’s important to keep the outside noise away from him, and the best way to do that is to focus on the game. I don’t think he’ll get a chance directly,” said Cheteshwar Pujara on Star Sports.Pujara revealed why he does not expect Sooryavanshi to break into the playing XI immediately, as the team management is expected to retain the World Cup title. Sanju SamsonAbhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan.“The Indian team will not want to change their top three, and I don’t think that Vaibhav will get his chance in the first 2 or 3 games. Once the Indian team starts doing well, whenever there is an opportunity to rotate, that’s when Vaibhav will come in the playing XI. What he did in the IPL, it will not be easy to repeat the same in English,” he added.Vaibhav was included in India’s T20I squad ahead of Ireland and England following an impressive IPL campaign, but is yet to make an international appearance. The youngster arrived in the national team in good form after breaking the record 11-ball List A 50 for India A against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla.Vaibhav also has experience of playing in English, having toured the country with the Indian Under-19 team in 2025. He finished as the top scorer in the one-day series, scoring 355 runs at an average of 71 with a strike rate of 174.
