Since childhood, Vineeth dreamed of becoming one of the youngest and most popular directors in the Malayalam film industry. His passion lies in creating horror films with intense storytelling and solid technical execution. However, the road to achieving that dream is far from easy. Director Abhinav Sunder Nayak examines the difficulties faced by newcomers in the film industry.

The film started with a decent opening at the box office

ETimes verdict for ‘Mollywood Times’

Reviewing the film, ETimes wrote, “Abhinav, who co-wrote it with Ramu Sunil, gives a refreshingly real take on life’s struggles. It’s refreshing because, while it quickly descends into darkness, the writers keep the narrative going happily and the hero never thinks of giving up on his dreams or really compromising on his principles. So the ideas are compelling, but the storytelling starts to feel awkward, especially in the second half. The many obstacles that come in the way of Vineeth’s dreams are just from the different way Mollywood works and it’s tiring. The SC/ST privilege segments feel strangely tone-deaf and unnecessary. With the OTT premiere now confirmed, ‘Mollywood Times’ is set to reach a wider audience and is expected to garner a cult fan base like Abhinav’s previous film ‘Mukundan Unni Associates’.
