The Patna district administration has extended the suspension of academic activities for students from pre-primary to Class 8 in all government and private schools till June 30 due to the ongoing heat wave and extremely high temperatures.The new order was issued by the District Magistrate (DM) Kundan Kumar Protect children from health risks caused by severe weather. This regulation is valid from June 29 to June 30, 2026.According to the order issued on June 28, the district government stated that the ongoing heat wave continues to pose a serious threat to the health and safety of children in schools. With this in mind, it decided to extend restrictions on academic activities in sports.The order was issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023. The order also follows a previous order issued under Memorandum No. 8706/Legal on June 21, 2026, which already imposed similar restrictions due to extreme heat.According to the latest directive, academic activities for students from pre-primary to class 8 will remain suspended in all government and private schools in Patna district till June 30, 2026.School authorities have been directed to reschedule academic activities as per the latest directives from the district administration. While regular classroom teaching for these classes has been suspended during this period, schools have been asked to ensure compliance with the revised timetable.

District Magistrate Kundan Kumar said the decision was taken after the government found that the current weather conditions continued to endanger the health and lives of young children. As the heat wave continues throughout the district, suspending academic activities for younger students is considered a necessary precaution.The district administration has directed all public and private schools to strictly comply with the order within the stipulated period. The decision comes as some parts of Bihar continue to experience extremely high temperatures, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures to reduce heat-related risks among school children.
