For many fans watching, it was as if “The Wall” had returned to the crease.The rally hit a rough patch as the Blasters lost two wickets in the first eight overs. Instead of panicking, the young batsman played calmly, scoring 32 off 23 balls to set up the innings before departing.Their contributions proved vital as Rohan Patil hit 64 and Praveen Dubey added 51 to lead Bengaluru Blasters to 203/7. Hubli Tigers mounted a strong chase led by Manvanth Kumar’s explosive 60 but eventually fell short by just two runs.Although Samit’s innings had six boundaries, it was his technique that became the main talking point. His crisp cuts, good cover drives, straight shots and good footwork are strikingly similar to Rahul Dravid’s style, prompting fans online to describe him as a “copy” of the former Indian captain.Based on his upbringing, this comparison is unexpected. Having grown up in the Karnataka cricketing arena under the tutelage of one of the game’s greatest masters, Samit naturally developed many of the batting principles that made his father a legend.Despite the similarities, however, the young man is creating work with a different skill set.Where Rahul made his legacy as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket, Samit emerged as the fastest pacer. Along with his medium batting, he offers medium pace and has already made an impression in age group cricket.He played a crucial role in Karnataka’s 2023–24 Cooch Behar Trophy victory, scoring 362 runs while taking 16 wickets. One of the standout performances of the tournament came as a crucial 98 against Jammu and Kashmir.This performance earned him selection in India’s Under-19 squad for the home series against Australia in 2024. However, a knee injury curtailed that chance. Since his recovery, Samit has resumed progress and continues to strengthen his credentials through regular home practice with bat and ball.The next generation of the Dravid family does not end there.Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay Dravid, is also starting to establish himself on the national stage.
