Randeep Hooda revealed that he chose not to follow career advice given by: Salman Khan:despite admitting it was “good advice.” The actor said while the two Salman: and his father encouraged him to stick to heroic roles and build a consistent image on the screen, knowing that he decided to take a different path to avoid becoming repetitive as a performer.Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Randeep reflected on his unconventional career choices and explained why he prioritized challenging roles over stardom.
“Salman told me not to take roles where I am not a hero.”
Recalling the advice he received from Salman Khan, Randeep said, “His (Salman Khan’s) main advice was not to take roles where I don’t look heroic. It was good advice… My father also said the same thing. Then, he said, ‘You should look the same and do the same kind of roles, which will help gain an image and become a star.’However, the actor admitted that he intended not to follow that path.“I didn’t follow that advice because I always felt like playing the same thing over and over again was boring. And that’s something I don’t want to do,” he said.
“You can’t teach me”
Randeep also talked about why he takes it as a compliment when people say he’s inimitable.“That’s because you can’t pinpoint me. In each role, my rhythm and intonation are different, and sometimes, my voice is different,” he explained.While Randeep acknowledges that having a recognizable screen persona helps an actor become a star, Randeep says that this is not his main goal.“I’m not saying it’s not a good thing. But how do you stay fresh over the years? Do you start sleeping through your roles? Will the gym be the only place where you practice? So, I didn’t follow his advice. However, you don’t know what the future holds,” he added.
Randeep and Salman shared screen space thrice
Despite choosing different career paths, Randeep Hooda and Salman Khan collaborated in three films—Kick (2014), directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, Sultan (2016), directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, and Radhe (2021), directed by Prabhu Deva.While Kick and Sultan emerged as major box-office successes, Radhe received a mixed-to-negative response from critics and audiences.
