In a shocking case in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, a man has been arrested for allegedly hiring assassins to kill his father so that he could get a job on compassionate grounds, police said. The victim, Tuleshwar Nonia, worked at the Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL) coal mines in Barora and had only two years left before retirement. According to police, his son Vijay Chauhan wanted to find a permanent job in the coal mines after his father’s death and planned the murder with two men, Amit Singh and Akhilesh Mallah. All three have been arrested.Dhanbad rural police chief S Mohammed Yakub said: “Nonia was a coal worker at BCCL coal mine in Barola. He only has two years left in his tenure with BCCL. His son Vijay Chauhan, after his father’s death, out of compassion wanted to find a permanent job in the coal mines and plotted to get rid of his father. “Police said Chauhan provided Rs 10 lakh to Singh and Malla to commit the murder but no advance payment was made before committing the crime.According to investigation, Chouhan allegedly created an alibi by telling his father that he was going to Aurangabad, Bihar, to attend a relative’s wedding. He left home on Friday morning.Police said that on the evening of June 19, after Nonia got off work, Singh and Malla gave him a ride on their motorcycle. They allegedly took him to a secluded area and beat him to death with a large stone.Investigators said the defendants later smashed Nonia’s face to hide his identity and dragged the body onto a main road to make the murder look like a traffic accident. The case took a turn after police examined CCTV footage from the AMP coal mine’s BCCL system. According to Yakub, the video shows Nonia riding a motorcycle with Singh and Malla.“The CCTV footage of the BCCL system of AMP coal mine clearly showed that Noonia was riding the same motorcycle as Singh and Malla. Based on this clue, the police detained the two men and subjected them to rigorous interrogation, which ultimately revealed the entire truth,” the officer said.Police also said Malla has a criminal record and was previously jailed in a case related to coal and diesel theft registered at Madhuban police station.
