A viral video of: Nupur Sanonher husband Stebin Ben and her parents who stepped out at a restaurant in Mumbai recently sparked speculation online. In the clip, Stebin’s parents appear ahead while Nupur waits behind, leading some social media users to claim that her mother-in-law is ignoring her. The video quickly sparked discussions, with many fans interpreting Nupur’s expression as frustration. Now, Stebin has addressed the incident and clarified what exactly happened.Speaking to Galatta India, Stebin said there was no trouble between her parents and Nupur, adding that her parents were not comfortable facing the cameras.“My parents are very simple people. Whenever they see the media, they stay away quietly because they feel the media is there for me, not for them. They think, ‘This is your profession. People want to see you, not us.'”Recalling the moment captured in the now-viral clip, he said, “My parents didn’t know the media was standing there. The moment they saw the flashlights, they just started walking forward. I told them, ‘It’s okay, you go ahead, we’ll be in the back.’ Nupur tried to stop them, but they didn’t notice that someone was calling them. They just think, ‘Media hai, chalo nikalte hain.'”Stebin said the narrative that her mother deliberately ignored Nupur was far from the truth.“People say that Nupur has a dangerous mother-in-law, but it is exactly the opposite. If you meet my parents, you will understand that they are the most simple people. Their whole life revolves around their children.”He revealed that his parents originally planned to spend their retirement in Kerala but changed their plans because their children wanted them to be close.“My parents wanted to retire and settle in Kerala because they liked the plantations and the peaceful life there. But they decided to stay with us because we insisted. Their lives revolved around their children.”
“Saas-bahu is always in the same group”
Stebin laughed off the online chatter surrounding her family dynamic and said that Nupur shares a warm relationship with her mother.“If Indians want to know how my mother and Nupur are related, here is the answer – when we play at home, my mother and Nupur are always in the same team. Dad and I are on the other side. That’s the kind of bond they share.”
“We have been friends for a long time before we got married”
Opening up about his relationship with Nupur, Stebin said their romance grew naturally after years of friendship.“I have known Nupur’s family since 2020. During the lockdown, none of us had many friends, so our families spent a lot of time together.”He added that: Kriti Sanon became like family long before he married Nupur.“Kriti has always been like a sister and a friend to me. I have always shared a good relationship with her and their parents. We go out for dinner, travel together and spend time as a family.Reflecting on their relationship, she said, “Our friendship lasted for many years before it finally turned into marriage. Even now, Nupur and I are close friends.”
On wedding questions and what’s next?
Stebin admits that before her wedding, she was often asked when she was going to settle down.“Early on, everyone kept asking, ‘When are you getting married?’ Now those questions have stopped. It’s good because people can finally talk about my music and career. “The singer also said that he only reached “five percent” of what he dreamed of accomplishing.“Out of 100, I feel I have reached only five. This year I have planned everything very aggressively. I want to release more songs, give people more music, more content, more film songs and more collaborations.”He revealed that he already has projects lined up, including film tracks.“I just released ‘Tera Ho Jaaun’ with Varun Dhawan, and the title track of Salman Khan’s upcoming film Matrubhoomi is also in my voice. There are more singles and collaborations coming. The more hit songs I have, the more international collaborations I will announce.”
