Viswanathan on Wednesday announced the ranking list, covering 2,36,017 applicants registered for admission in undergraduate engineering courses in Tamil Nadu.Candidates performed well in this year’s rankings, with 53 students achieving a perfect score of 200. The release of the TNEA 2026 Ranking marks the completion of the merit-based preparation process for over 2.36 lakh engineering candidates seeking admission through the centralized coaching system.

Akshitha N from Dharmapuri, who topped the TNEA merit list 2026, topped the engineering admissions this year.The news puts her at the forefront of one of the most competitive admissions processes in Tamil Nadu, where ranking determines a candidate’s eligibility for admission to preferred engineering colleges and branches.
Fifty-three students received perfect grades
In the 2026 admissions cycle, 53 candidates scored 200 points out of 200, reflecting outstanding academic performance.These candidates are expected to play an important role in the consultation process, particularly for highly sought-after engineering projects offered by leading institutions across the state.
Engineering consultation schedule announced
In addition to announcing the ranking list, the Ministry of Higher Education also announced the coaching schedule.Counseling for special category candidates will be held on July 13 and 14. Thereafter, online engineering consultation for eligible candidates will be conducted from July 20 to July 30.During the counseling process, candidates will select the college and engineering department based on their ranking, category and seat availability.

With the announcement of the rank list, the TNEA 2026 admission process has now entered the next critical stage.
