The screening of his films ‘RRR’ and ‘Eega’ was held at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France. SS: Rajamouli shares ‘Varanasi’ is a standalone film
During the interaction, according to a Hindustan Times report, the director confirmed that ‘Varanasi’ is a standalone film. Not the sameBaahubali‘, it will not be made as a franchise. When asked if the film has many parts, Rajamouli gave a simple answer. He said, “A film. Yes, a film.”
SS Rajamouli reveals what the audience can expect
The ‘Baahubali’ director also shared what kind of experience the film will offer. He said that the movie will take the audience on a great adventure with mythology, fantasy, and strong emotions.He said, “You will experience the cold and ice of Antarctica. The gods of Ramayana, the natural disasters and fantastical elements. That is the experience you will have, but at the core of it all are the emotions of father and son. All this makes Varanasi for you.”
About ‘Varanasi’
‘Varanasi’ featured Mahesh Babu in the role of Rudhra. Priyanka Chopra plays Mandakini while Prithviraj Sukumaran portrays Kumbha. The film also marks the return of Priyanka Chopra to: Indian cinema: after an eight-year hiatus.Earlier, Rajamouli also revealed that Mahesh Babu will appear as Lord Rama in one of the important sequences of the film. Vijayendra Prasad also teased the 30-minute battle sequence between Rama and Kumbhakarna.
‘Varanasi’ shooting status:
Recently in a conversation with Variety, SS Rajamouli revealed that the team has completed a major part of the shoot. They also pack great action sequences. “Hopefully, by September, maybe a little bit into October, we should be finishing shooting,” said Rajamouli.The film is slated to hit the big screens on April 7, 2027.
