Years ago, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell were the industry’s most iconic comedic duo; however, after a breakup in 2019, the two never worked together again. However, years later, McKay expects to reunite with the actor again. Here’s what he had to share.
Adam McKay says he wants to work with Will Ferrell again
While talking to Business Insider, Adam McKay admitted that he misses working with Ferrell. When asked if he would like to work with her again, the filmmaker happily admits that he has been open to the idea for a long time.“We’ve always been very good, we’re amazing creative partners. The only thing that caused conflict between us was when we decided to end our production company, Gary Sanchez. And I know it’s been reported one way or another, but that’s exactly it”, he admitted, also giving insight into why they stopped working together in the first place.“It’s a shame because we have a great creative partnership. I think both of us underestimated the complications that come with not only having a company, but a successful company,” he added, further sharing that they both work on many projects under the banner of their company, and that they have a flow with each other.

McKay revealed that Ferrell is not someone who wants to completely create content, and after a certain point, it becomes too much work. He added, “I really wanted to produce, but the life of a movie star is very different from the life of a writer-director. So we parted ways. But life goes on. We’re going very well. I definitely don’t have any hard feelings and, who knows, we’ll see what happens.” He also concluded by saying that the company was not something that Ferrell wanted.
