Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association suspends President after 8-0 Apex Council vote

New Delhi: Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) president Javid Ahmed Kitab has been suspended immediately after the Apex Council passed a unanimous decision in favor of the move.The resolution was finalized on June 25 and approved by a majority vote of 8-0. According to this notification, the decision was submitted to the appropriate members of the Apex Council as per rule 23(i) of the JKCA rules. Since the matter concerns the conduct and suspension of the president, the decision was not sent to the Kitab. Instead, it was circulated among the remaining nine members of the Apex Council. Eight members voted for the resolution, while one member abstained.The notification said, “Consequently, this decision is approved by a majority of 8:0 in terms of rule 23(i) read with rule 48(6) of the JKCA.”It added, “As per this decision, Javid Ahmed Kitab, President, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association, has been suspended with immediate effect.”The notification also said that the decision will have the force and validity of the one passed in the duly convened meeting of the Apex Council. It will be presented to the council at the next meeting for approval, according to the constitution.The JKCA has also ordered all officials, workers, affiliated organizations and other officials of the organization to “take steps to ensure that this decision is implemented in accordance with the constitution” of the organization.
