A new claim surrounding Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological epic ‘Ramayana’ has sparked an online debate. Content creator Dhruv Parikshit, who recently attended a special event with the creators on the film’s set, said that the makers deliberately released a version of Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama look that featured incomplete visual effects to generate online conversation and publicity.According to him, the strategy is aimed at creating buzz through audience discussions and criticism, resulting in what he describes as “free marketing.”
The Maker shared his interaction with the film’s VFX team
After his visit, Dhruv posted pictures and videos from the event on social media. In response to a follower’s question about the visual effects, he first stated that some of the footage shown during the visit was unfinished. He wrote, “Yes, it’s incomplete. But their vision, I really can’t put it into words. The scenes I witnessed were on an ‘Avatar’ level. I’m not exaggerating, they really cook something great. The character designs and the world of ‘Ramayana’ feel incredible.”He further admitted that he spoke with a VFX artist associated with the project, and added, “I also had the opportunity to speak with one of their VFX artists. He told me that the creators intentionally uploaded a nerfed version of Rama’s look. They had better versions of the scenes, but they intentionally released an incomplete one. Why?“
The original comment was deleted after it went viral
Soon after, Dhruv deleted his original comment and replaced it with an explanation. He explained that the visual effects work is progressing well and praised the scale of the film.“VFX pe kaam chal raha hai, and kaafi accha kaam ho bhi Gaya hai. The footage is incomplete and I believe everything is complete. And bhai, character designs!! They are beautiful! They are very nice. It’s like a very beautiful fantasy world, but in an Indian setting. It will be a great theater experience,” he wrote.Despite the clarification, screenshots of his earlier comments quickly spread on social media, fueling speculation about the film’s promotional strategy.
The ‘Ramayana’ teaser has divided the audience
Earlier this year, the makers unveiled the first look of ‘Ramayana’, which introduced Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. While many appreciated the scale of the teaser and cinematic ambition, others criticized the VFX features, CGI and the appearance of some rakshasa characters. The production team later assured viewers that the visual effects will continue to be refined before the theatrical release.
Star-studded cast and release plan
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey and Sunny Deol in pivotal roles. The first part is slated for a theatrical release before Diwali 2026, while the second part is expected to hit theaters in 2027.
