Atlee expressed her biggest regret in the 'Idhayam Murali' event.

The pre-release event of ‘Idhayam Murali’ turned out to be a memorable evening as filmmaker Atlee shared heartfelt thoughts about the film, its director Aakash Baskaran, and his own journey in cinema. The romantic entertainer, starring Atharvaa, is all set to hit the theaters on July 10 and has already created a strong buzz with its trailer. While wishing success to the entire team, Atlee also reflected on a personal regret that has stuck with him since the release of his debut blockbuster ‘Raja Rani,’ making his speech one of the biggest highlights of the event.

Atlee opens up about her long-held regret

During his speech, Atlee admitted that he wanted to return to the romance genre but never got the chance after his first film. “Wherever I go, people first talk about Raja Rani. After that, because of Thalapathy VijayI got a chance to make ‘Theri,’ ‘Mersal,’ and ‘Bigil.’ I’m thankful for that, but I always have one regret. I couldn’t make another love story,” he said. The director revealed that this feeling was one of the reasons he wanted to support Idhayam Murali. “I even told Aakash that I want to produce this film. Somehow that didn’t happen, but after watching the finished film, I loved it,” he added.

Aakash and Atlee’s emotional connection is behind the film

Praising debut director Aakash Baskaran, Atlee described him as someone very close to her heart. “Aakash is like my own brother. I can never say no to him because he has helped me in so many ways. He is young but very responsible,” she said. Atlee revealed that the movie takes a lot of Aakash’s life. “This is almost Aakash’s biopic. Anyone who knows him will understand that after watching the film. When you see Fahadh Faasil’s character, just think of him as me,” he said with a smile. His comments elicited loud cheers from the audience and added to the excitement surrounding the film.

Special kudos to Atlee for the cast and crew

Atlee also keeps special gratitude for the young talent of ‘Idhayam Murali.’ Talking about actress Kayadu Lohar, he said, “Kayadu, you are on another level. I really believe you will become a National Crush soon.” He also said that he is a big fan of Parithabangal Sudhakar: and added, “I am one of Sudhakar’s biggest fans.”With the ringing endorsement of Atlee, the positive response to the trailer and the expectations built around Aakash Baskaran’s directorial debut, Idhayam Murali has become one of the most anticipated feel-good entertainers of the season. The film features Atharvaa, Preity Mukundhan, Kayadu Lohar, Thaman S, Natty, Fahadh Faasil, and others. The movie is now set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 10.
